Why does my coupon code say it's invalid?

Some coupon codes are time sensitive, so it could be that you are using a coupon code that has expired. It is also possible that the code you have is not a coupon code, but a code you type in the Order comments at checkout. You should review the promotional email you received that provided the guidelines for using that coupon code. If you still experience problems, then contact our Customer Service Department at 800-228-1966 during normal business hours and we will assist you.

Why is there a Proposition 65 Warning on some Thorne products?

Thorne methodically tests every raw ingredient and every finished good for identity and purity. Every incoming raw ingredient is quarantined in our facility until it is tested and its identity and purity is verified. As part of our purity testing, raw materials are tested for the suspected presence of chemicals listed by California’s Proposition 65. If a Thorne product contains a naturally-occurring chemical in an amount that is above a Proposition 65 threshold, then we will place the appropriate warning notice on the product label. However, in every case, the amount of lead or other chemical in a Thorne product that requires a Proposition 65 warning notice will be within the U.S. Pharmacopeia guideline considered safe for daily intake. You can read more about Thorne’s quality standards here.

Please see our California Proposition 65 webpage for more information.

What kinds of chemicals are on the Proposition 65 Lists?

The two Proposition 65 lists encompass a wide range of naturally-occurring and man-made chemicals. Listed chemicals not only include ingredients found in pesticides, insecticides, and construction materials, but also ingredients contained in common household products like foods, drugs, alcoholic beverages, and nutritional supplements.

Some chemicals on the Proposition 65 list – such as lead, cadmium, and arsenic – are found naturally in the environment all over the world. Therefore, some products that naturally contain these substances can be required to carry a Proposition 65 warning notice on their product label, such as mineral and botanical ingredients contained in nutritional supplements.

How can I learn more about Proposition 65?

For information about the chemicals that are listed under Proposition 65, go to OEHHA or Proposition 65 Enforcement Reporting.

What ingredient in my product triggered the Proposition 65 Warning?

Thorne Research notifies California consumers of those products that contain levels of lead or cadmium above their respective Proposition 65 threshold limits.

Do you test for Glyphosate?

The pesticide glyphosate has been in the news a lot lately, and we understand people’s legitimate concerns about it. Thorne is constantly evaluating the available methods for testing botanical ingredients for the presence of pesticides, including glyphosate. Currently, the methods to test for the presence of glyphosate are relatively new and not always 100-percent accurate, and we have not yet found a test method we are absolutely confident in. Thorne wants to give you the most accurate information, which we do for those botanical ingredients we test for 70 other pesticides and pesticide families. We anticipate we will eventually adopt a satisfactory test for glyphosate, allowing us to include it in our already extensive testing program.

Are all states affected by Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 only applies in the State of California. Manufacturers, distributors, and retailers who sell consumer goods in California are subject to Proposition 65’s warning notice requirement, even if the company is not located in California. However, it is possible that a product originally intended for sale in California that has a Proposition 65 warning notice on it could find its way to another State and be offered for sale there, even though Proposition 65 doesn’t apply in that State.

What is California Proposition 65?

Proposition 65, which is officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a law enacted by the State of California in 1986. The law is intended to protect California residents from chemicals that are believed to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Proposition 65 requires California to maintain and update a list of these chemicals and requires companies that do business in California to inform residents about exposure to such chemicals that are in their products.
