DiCalcium Malate

DiCalcium Malate

About DiCalcium Malate

Better absorbed than calcium carbonate and higher amount of elemental calcium per gram than calcium citrate

DiCalcium Malate (DimaCal®) is optimally absorbed and better tolerated compared to other forms of calcium. Due to its higher concentration, compared to Calcium Citrate, for example, it provides more calcium per capsule.

A significant proportion of the U.S. adult population does not consume the 1,000-1,200 mg of calcium daily as recommended by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Individuals who are at the most risk for calcium inadequacy include menopausal and postmenopausal women, vegans, individuals who take certain prescription and over-the-counter medications, and individuals with a vitamin D deficiency (because vitamin D is necessary for calcium absorption).

The Thorne Difference

DimaCal® is the patented name for dicalcium malate, which is comprised of two molecules of calcium (“di” means two) attached to one molecule of malic acid, thus providing more mineral per molecule. Dicalcium malate is 29-percent elemental calcium compared to calcium citrate, which is only 21-percent elemental calcium. The greater concentration means more calcium per capsule.
