Thorne AI Influencer Policy
Effective Date: November 3, 2026
BACKGROUND
Thorne requires product endorsements to be truthful, authentic, and consistent with approved product claims. Because an AI-generated person cannot personally use or experience a Thorne product, it cannot provide a genuine first-hand testimonial. This is particularly important for health and wellness products, where fabricated experiences, qualifications, or claims could mislead consumers and undermine trust.
POLICY
Thorne does not permit Content Creators to create, commission, publish, repost, or otherwise use an AI Influencer to promote, review, recommend, or endorse Thorne or a Thorne product without express, written permission. Compliance with this Policy is a condition of the content creator’s engagement with Thorne.
Any content that states or implies personal use, results, or experience with a Thorne product must be attributable to a real person and truthfully reflect that person’s actual experience.
PERMITTED AI-ASSISTED TOOLS
Content Creators may use AI-Assisted Production Tools when the resulting content accurately represents the real Endorser and complies with all other Thorne policies.
Content Creators may not use AI-Assisted Production Tools or any other AI tool to edit, modify, or otherwise alter content created by another person without that person’s prior permission. This applies regardless of whether the alteration would otherwise qualify as permitted, and any such editing must also comply with all other requirements of this Policy.
Use of a Digital Replica—including for translation or dubbing—requires:
• Thorne's prior written approval.
• The real person's authorization.
• Confirmation that the content accurately reflects the person's statements and experience.
• Any disclosure required by law, platform rules, or Thorne.
• Inclusion of an AI platform disclosure notice does not negate an influencer's requirement to include FTC/DSHEA disclaimers as applicable.
NON-COMPLIANCE
Thorne may require prohibited content to be immediately corrected or removed. Violations may result in suspension of commissions, campaigns, or other program benefits, or termination of the Content Creator’s relationship with Thorne.
DEFINITIONS
AI Influencer: A fictional, virtual, or synthetic person whose identity, appearance, voice, actions, or communications are fully or materially generated using artificial intelligence and who serves as an Endorser of Thorne or a Thorne product.
AI Influencers include:
• Virtual personalities and AI-generated social media creators.
• AI-generated customers, product users, or user-generated content creators.
• AI-generated doctors, health professionals, wellness experts, or other purported authorities.
• Synthetic testimonials, demonstrations, unboxing videos, or depictions of product use.
• Digital Replicas used to fabricate or materially misrepresent a person’s statements, qualifications, actions, product use, results, or experience.
An AI Influencer does not need to maintain a social media account or have followers. A one-time synthetic customer, expert, or testimonial may qualify as an AI Influencer.
AI-Assisted Production Tool: An AI-enabled tool used to support content creation without replacing the real person serving as the Endorser or fabricating or materially misrepresenting the content. Examples include tools used for caption drafting, translation, accessibility support, or routine image, video, and sound editing. Individuals are responsible for ensuring that any tools used are appropriately reviewed and that any published content adheres to all applicable rules.
Digital Replica: An AI-generated or AI-modified reproduction of an identifiable person’s appearance, face, voice, movements, mannerisms, or other personal characteristics. This includes face clones, voice clones, synthetic avatars, and digitally generated versions of real people.
Endorsement: Any message, review, testimonial, statement, image, video, demonstration, tag, link, or other content that consumers are likely to understand as reflecting a person’s opinion, experience, belief, or recommendation about Thorne or a Thorne product.
Endorser: The person or persona to whom an Endorsement is attributed.
Materially Generated or Altered: Created or modified in a way that changes, replaces, or misrepresents the identity, appearance, voice, statements, qualifications, actions, product use, results, or experience presented in the content. Minor corrections or enhancements that do not change the content’s meaning—such as cropping, color correction, background-noise reduction, or spelling and grammar corrections—are not considered material alterations.
Content Creator: Any ambassador, affiliate, paid influencer, sponsored creator, or other person or entity engaged by or acting on behalf of Thorne to promote Thorne or a Thorne product.
Personal Experience Claim: An express or implied statement that a person used a Thorne product or experienced a particular benefit, result, or effect from using it.
