Berberine is a major immune-enhancing alkaloid found in many plants, including Hydrastis canadensis (goldenseal), Coptis chinensis (Coptis or golden thread), Berberis aquifolium (Oregon grape), Berberis vulgaris (barberry), and Berberis aristata (tree turmeric). Berberine is also known to be beneficial for helping to maintain a healthy balance of normal bacteria in the intestines.

Risk Information: Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If symptoms worsen or diarrhea persists for longer than 7 days, discontinue use and consult a health professional. If stool contains blood or mucous or diarrhea is accompanied by a high fever, consult a health professional. Do not use in cases of chronic diarrhea (e.g. inflammatory bowel disease). Ensure adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration. If you experience symptoms of dehydration (tired, dry mouth, muscle cramps, dark coloured urine, dizziness, etc.) discontinue use and consult a health professional. If you are taking prescription medications, consult a health professional prior to use as berberine may alter the effectiveness of these medications. Consult a health professional prior to use If you have gallstones. Sensitive persons may experience mild constipation; if this occurs, consult a health professional.

How to Use
Recommended Use or Purpose:
Used in complementary medicine as a supportive treatment of mild to moderate acute/occasional diarrhea.
Recommended Dose (Adults):
Take 2 capsules once per day. If gastric irritation occurs, take 1 capsule two times daily with meals. For use up to 7 days (for treatment in cases of acute diarrhea).
