Interest in Pygeum (Prunus africana) began in the 1700s when European travelers learned from South African tribes how to use the bark of the plant to support male urinary tract health.*
Basic Pygeum Herbal contains plant-based substances that support the health of the prostate.* The amino acids alanine, glycine, and glutamic acid have also been added for their ability to benefit prostate health.*
Serenoa repens, also known as saw palmetto, is native to the southeastern United States, southern Europe, and north Africa. Traditional uses of saw palmetto include support of the respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract.* While the berries have been thought to be an aphrodisiac, modern usage of saw palmetto is overwhelmingly for the benefit of the prostate.*
